JOSHUA TREE, CA – The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s “Desert Stories”, the most anticipated annual literary and performance art event in the desert, is back and more popular than ever! In its eighth straight year and with tickets selling fast, this epic spoken word event will once again take the stage at the Center’s state-of-the-art Blak Box Theater and will feature some of the Desert’s best storytellers and eclectic artists. Hosted by Cheryl Montelle, come hear new true-life experiences and a few tall tales directly from the writers themselves! This elaborate night-on-the-town will feature a social and no-host cash bar beginning at 6pm January 31, 2015, with performances starting promptly at 7pm. Given the large scale of the event, ticket holders are advised to show-up early and are requested to carpool when convenient. This event is intended for mature audiences only and may contain adult language and situational descriptions.
“Spoken Word” is a popular form of literary art or artistic performance in which lyrics, poetry, or stories are spoken and may include singing, movement, and multi-media visual effects. This year’s event will feature celebrated artists Klaus Wille, Dusty Wakeman, Tobias Crabtree, Matt Perry, Leah Taylor, Stacy Doolittle, Susan Cram, Louise Goffin, Michel Cicero, & special guests!
“Desert Stories 8” tickets are $20 General Seating, $25 Preferred Seating, and $35 Elite Seating — with only a few tickets left in the Preferred and Elite seating. A no-host cash bar will be available throughout the evening and light complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be served at intermission. To purchase tickets, go online to www.hidesertculturalcenter.org, call the Box Office at 760.366.3777, or visit the Box Office in person Monday through Thursday from 3-5pm.
