ENROLLEMENT OPEN: FALL 2018 Arts Courses for Adults & Youth

Greater Joshua Tree’s arts education leader and award-winning ArtsTech Academy program division of the Hi-Desert Cultural Center is proud to announce its new schedule of nearly 40 Fall 2018 visual and performing arts classes beginning Monday, September 24.  Classes for young children, youth, and adults will be held at the Palmer Performance Hall and Blak Box Theater in Joshua Tree and also at the new Yucca Valley Visual & Performing Arts Center.  Many youth and adult arts courses have been added to the program’s current exceptional arts training.  

Being held in the new visual arts studio room at the Yucca Valley Center are six new visual art courses including Art 4 Kids (joining the Center’s Music 4 Kids and Theater 4 Kids for 1st—3rd graders), Learning Perspective (two age groups), Standing Man, Place, and Layered Mixed Media. In the expansive new dance studio are two ballet and two musical theater jazz courses for youth, with more adult courses and workshops planned.  Clowning and mime, percussion ensemble, and acoustic guitar round out the new Fall youth additions. For adults, new four-week workshops in voice, piano, violin, guitar, and acting have been added – and more are planned.  New teachers this fall include Mariah Austin (dance), Taylor Whiting and Jered Palmer (visual arts), Denice Huntington (music and theater for elementary schoolers), Haley Kooyman (clowning and mime), Greg Gordon (percussion ensemble) and Joshua Huntington (violin). 

Generous financial aid is available so that no child is unable to participate due to his or her socioeconomic situation.  In addition, the Cultural Center is an approved vendor for Valiant Academy, offering after-school enrichment courses as well as Advanced Placement music theory and portfolio preparation classwork.

Should your schedule change and you find yourself needing to attend a performance on a different date — if you give the Box Office at least 48 hours notice prior to your ticketed performance, management will attempt to exchange your ticket for a different performance of the same show!
