Hi-Desert Playhouse Call For Theater Directors
JOSHUA TREE, CA – Calling All Directors! The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s prestigious Hi-Desert Playhouse theater division is seeking experienced directors to join its artistic team for its upcoming 2016-2017 season that opens this Fall. Led by its internationally acclaimed artistic director, Howard Shangraw, the new season builds upon the current season’s impressive slate of entertainment that presented true year-round theater with more than twelve high-quality theatrical productions featuring published and original works by famed playwrights and performances by Tony Award-winning, Equity, and local up-and-coming talent. The regional Playhouse is looking for directors to submit show ideas to be considered for its highly-anticipated new season line-up of Main Stage and Blak Box Theater productions, First Fridays! Reader’s Theater Series, Youth Theater and more. From Shakespeare to Simon, Chekhov to Durang, Gershwin to Sondheim, and everything in between — all ideas are welcome!
As the most recognized professional division theater in the upper desert region this past year, the Hi-Desert Playhouse also offers exceptional opportunities for local talent who desire to work in a professional environment and state-of-the-art venues. The Playhouse’s 2016-2017 season will feature both semi-professional or Equity level productions as well as community-involved productions, and will continue to consider both published and original works.
