Surefire Hit Comedy & New Art Exhibits

JOSHUA TREE, CA – The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s latest theatrical comedy, Moon Over Buffalo, has proven to be a surefire hit earning kudos from critics (see review below) and audiences alike and plays for two more weekends through April 19th.  Theatergoers will also be treated to the acclaimed art of Darlene Morris and S.E.James on display at the Center’s newly decorated art-filled lobby.

Opening weekend for Ken Ludwig’s madcap comedy, directed by this year’s Desert Theater League “Most Outstanding Director” of a comedy, Wendy Cohen, was met with nothing but uproarious laughter — as you’d expect with an all-star cast that features the acting prowess of Joy Groves, Scott Cutler, Analisa Pilecki, Howard Cohen, Richie Sande, Dave Jessup, Hanna Mohn, and Wendy Cohen.  With only two weekends remaining in this full-scale production’s run, some seating choices are already sold-out!

Esteemed painters and visual artists S.E.James and Darlene Morris are currently being featured in the Cultural Center Art Gallery.  The works are also being offered for sale during the entire show-run of Moon Over Buffalo.  James has won many awards and is garnering national attention for her unique and beautiful paintings and pyrography on Joshua Tree wood and her unique miniatures.  Some of James’ featured pieces include “Cactus Splash”, “Bigger Than Life”, and “Palm Canyon”, among others.  Morris, whose has garnered many awards for her work in watercolor, acrylic, oil, and mixed-media, is featuring works that create an “uplifting experience for the beholder.”  Some of Morris’ featured pieces include “Barker Dam Heights” and “Early Morning Pinnacle”, among others.

Moon Over Buffalo, and the art of James and Morris, will play and be featured at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theater through April 19, 2014.  Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7pm, and a special Saturday matinee April 12 at 2pm.  Tickets are $15 for general seating and $20 for elite seating.  To purchase tickets, go online to www.hidesertculturalcenter.com or call the Box Office at 760.366.3777.  The Hi-Desert Cultural Center is a producing member of the Desert Theatre League.
