ALERT: Cultural Center postpones nearly all current programming and planned public events in response to Coronavirus pandemic

JUNE 15, 2021 UPDATE: After being forced to close for a year-and-a-half due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Hi-Desert Cultural Center is excited that it is finally being allowed to re-open. It has now begun the process of planning new programs and entertainment for its communities to once again enjoy.

GREATER JOSHUA TREE, CA — After discussions with county and state officials, and in light of recent locally-relevant concerns for family health, community welfare, and county, state and global restrictions on gathering and travel, the Hi-Desert Cultural Center announces that it is postponing nearly all of its current programming and planned public events in response to the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The Cultural Center is positively committed to the well-being of its community and constituents, and it understands that slowing the spread of the Coronavirus through social distancing is necessary to protect not only the Center’s patrons, volunteers, and employees, but also the community at large.  In addition, many of its volunteers and patrons fall within the demographic most likely to suffer the worst effects of this highly-contagious virus.  In order to both comply with government orders banning events where 250 or more people gather and also heed the space restriction guidelines for smaller crowds and protection of vulnerable populations, the Cultural Center must temporarily suspend nearly all of its planned public events and immediate programing until further notice.

The Yucca Valley Visual & Performing Arts Center, including the Yucca Valley Art Gallery, will close to the public effective Saturday, March 14th, and will undergo a thorough cleaning, with plans to announce its next steps when more information is made available.  This means that rehearsals for the Hi-Desert Master Chorus and the Joshua Tree Philharmonic are canceled, and their upcoming Spring concerts will be postponed with future dates to be announced.  The Easter Egg Decorating & Closing Party for the current MOJAVE MADNESS gallery exhibition scheduled for April 12th is also canceled.  The art galleries curated in partnership with the Hi-Desert Medical Center will remain available for hospital visitors and employees.

While many of the Cultural Center’s concerts and events are sold-out in advance, patrons will be given the option to either preserve their reserved seats for when future concert dates are announced, or they may receive a full refund by calling the Cultural Center’s Box Office at 760.366.3777.  The Cultural Center regrets the inconveniences and disappointments resulting from this proactive, albeit necessary, decision and it looks forward to the future once this emergency situation has passed.  The Cultural Center wishes everyone only good health and well-being in the coming days and thanks everyone for their continued support of its mission.
