The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Desert Film Institute presents The Grandmaster, a critically acclaimed 2013 film that delivers a unique blend of action, drama, and history that captivates from beginning to end. This movie tells the story of martial-arts master Ip Man, the man who trained Bruce Lee. It is set in the tumultuous Republican era that followed the fall of China’s last dynasty, a time of chaos, division and war that was also the golden age of Chinese martial arts. The film will be introduced by Matthew Caron and Patricia Vernhes.
