JOSHUA TREE, CA — The acclaimed Joshua Tree Philharmonic is set to perform in grand fashion for its final concert series of the season this weekend, May 19-21, with its upcoming “USA Show,” an homage to the grand USO Shows of yesteryear.  Alexis Gershwin, the famous niece of legendary American composers George Gershwin and Ira Gershwin, will headline the concerts singing some of her uncles’ most beloved music while accompanied by famed piano virtuoso Jarrod Radnich.  The concert repertoire spans generations of music that have underscored and retold the history of the greatest nation on earth.  In addition to the historic duo, concert selections include GOD BLESS THE USA, BOOGIE WOOGIE BUGLE BOY, IN THE MOOD, TOP GUN ANTHEM, BORN IN THE USA, 1812 OVERTURE, themes from INDEPENDENCE DAY, HOGAN’S HEROES, THE A-TEAM, MASH… and more.  This toe-tapping and heartfelt tribute to the men and women who have served our great nation is already selling-out and is not to be missed.

Under the direction of renowned maestro Jarrod Radnich, the philharmonic concerts will also feature guest direction by celebrated conductor Steven Applegate and supporting vocal performances by Will North.  Elegantly decorated to be reminiscent of jazz orchestras and supper clubs from a bygone era, all concerts will be held Friday and Saturday evenings at 7pm, with a Sunday matinee at 2:30pm at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s state-of-the-art Blak Box Theater.  Audiences will be delighted with red carpet treatment and will also have the rare opportunity to personally meet American music royalty, with Alexis Gershwin available after each performance to sign her CDs and show posters with proceeds benefitting student scholarships to the Cultural Center’s award-winning ArtsTech Academy after school educational program.

Complimentary light refreshments and a full cash bar will be available during intermission and after the concert.  Must be at least 5 years of age to attend.  To purchase tickets or for more information, patrons may visit www.hidesertculturalcenter.org, visit the Hi-Desert Cultural Center Box Office in person Monday through Friday from 1-5pm, or call the Box Office at 760.366.3777.  The Hi-Desert Cultural Center is located at 61231 Hwy 62 in Joshua Tree, CA.
