JOSHUA TREE, CA — The Hi-Desert Cultural Center continues to offer wide-ranging arts exposure to Joshua Tree and surrounding communities with the return of the celebrated BrockusRED Dance Company (, a troupe of contemporary jazz dancers who are “some of the top professionals in Los Angeles with astonishing technical skills and a love of performing that captivates any audience.” BrockusRED’s program at the Cultural Center’s state-of-the-art Blak Box Theater in Joshua Tree includes STARS, LINES, LOVE DUET, a trilogy of three short pieces inspired by our own night sky and the stark architectural vistas of our beloved Joshua Tree National Park. All the other varied pieces are based on topics relevant to our lives and all are equally enjoyable for both well-informed patrons and dance concert newbies. Also, renowned Joshua Tree photographer and videographer, Taso Papadakis (, will present Home, an abstract music and film short of the BrockusRED company shot in November dancing in the Joshua Tree desert. There is one matinee performance scheduled for Sunday, May 5th at 2:30pm at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theater. Deborah herself is a fixture in the Los Angeles dance community and has been called “the mother superior of LA dance” and “our resident dance matriarch.” She has been a motivating factor in the development of ourARTS|TECH Academy’s dance program that offers ballet, musical theater/jazz, hip-hop, contemporary dance and a variety of student and adult workshops to the valley community—all taught by highly qualified professional dancers.
