Classical Trio of top Arts|Tech Academy faculty artists to perform in concert this Saturday

JOSHUA TREE, CA — The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s acclaimed Arts|Tech Academy will present a special concert of classical repertoire featuring several of its top faculty artists and members of the Joshua Tree Philharmonic this Saturday, April 28, at 7pm at the Cultural Center’s state-of-the-art Blak Box Theater. Nelms McKelvain on piano, Nicole Anna on violin, and Steve Caron on French horn and trombone will perform an eclectic program of solo and chamber music works by Rachmaninoff, Koechlin, Schumann, and more and will culminate with a rousing performance of the Trio in E-Flat Major, Op. 40 for Piano, Violin and Horn by Johannes Brahms
Nelms McKelvain is an award-winning pianist and musical director, receiving his Bachelor of Music degree in piano performance from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music and his Masters of Music degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He served as teacher and Dean of Arts for sixteen years at the Idyllwild Arts Academy before becoming the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Director of Education for its acclaimed Arts|Tech Academy youth and adult arts programs.
Nicole Anna is a successful studio artist and classically trained violinist who recently became a best-selling recording artist for Native Instruments. She studied with a student of Jascha Heifetz and then broke into the R&B, Hip-Hop world recording on numerous multi-platinum albums for artists including Michael Jackson, Devante Swing, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and more.
Steve Caron is assistant conductor of the Joshua Tree Philharmonic, receiving his Masters of Music degree from the University of Southern California where he studied orchestration, conducting, trombone, euphonium, tuba and horn. He plays with several local ensembles, including Desert Sõl, the Harmonic Winds, the Mojave Brass and the Joshua Tree Philharmonic. Steve is also an alumnus of the San Francisco Symphony Youth Orchestra and the American Youth Symphony.
