The Popular Sell-Out Desert Stories Spoken Word Event Will Feature New Eclectic Artists and the Desert’s Best Storytellers

JOSHUA TREE, CA – Back by overwhelming demand from last year’s sold-out performance, Desert Stories returns to the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theatre Saturday January 29, 2011 at 7pm.  Featuring new eclectic artists, Desert Stories IV is a benefit fundraiser to help rebuild the historic and newly named Kaye Ballard Theatre.

“Spoken Word” is a popular form of literary art or artistic performance in which lyrics, poetry, or stories are spoken and may include singing and multi-media visual effects. Come hear more true-life experiences and a few tall tales from some of the Desert’s best storytellers along with some special guests.  This year’s event will feature celebrated artists Pam Anders, John Bertram, Eames Demetrios, Shari Elf, Lawrence Lane, Savya Lee, Susan Morgan, and Kerri Tuttle among others.

Like the vast amount of rare and beautiful flora and fauna that inhabit the desert floor, there are equally as many unique and engaging stories out there waiting to be told. Bringing a whole new group of story tellers to the Blak Box Theater, Desert Stories IV is yet another opportunity in this artistic community to gather and be inspired by the desert itself.Cheryl Montelle, Desert Stories Event Coordinator

Desert Stories IV will begin with a pre-show cocktail party at 7pm with performances beginning at 7:30pm Saturday January 29, 2011 at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s new state-of-the-art Blak Box Theatre.  Tickets are $20, suggested donation.  Light complimentary hors d’oeuvres and a no-host cash bar will be available.  For more information and/or tickets, call the box office at 760.366.3777 to talk to a “real” person or visit using the new, easy to use Vendini ticketing system.
