Philharmonic Commences New Season — Welcomes New Musicians

By  |

JOSHUA TREE, CA – The Joshua Tree Philharmonic (JPHIL) will begin its Spring 2015 Season this coming Monday, February 23, at 6pm at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theater in Joshua Tree.  This innovative inter-generational community orchestra welcomes new musicians to join and be a part of its fantastic new season that will celebrate American composers — including John Williams, Leonard Bernstein, Michael Jackson, Benny Goodman, Aaron Copland, Stevie Wonder, Kansas, Danny Elfman & more!

Under the direction of Maestro, Jarrod Radnich, the JPHIL is a multi-session, year-round, inter-generational community orchestra comprised of 50 musicians from the Morongo Basin, Coachella Valley, Inland Empire, High-Desert/Apple Valley regions – and beyond.  Open to all instruments and musicians who demonstrate competency on their instrument, all orchestral parts are specially arranged to fit each musician’s skill level.  This customization enables professional musicians and dedicated advanced student musicians the opportunity to mentor, create, learn, and ultimately perform together music covering a wide breadth of styles. Members receive advanced-level instruction music theory and orchestral and ensemble performance technique for a variety of music genres.

The JPHIL meets every Monday night from 6-8 pm through May 25 with additional mandatory pre-concert rehearsals May 26 and 28.  The season culminates with four performances May 29-31. The fee to participate is $80 and helps to cover the costs of music, music royalties, facility overhead, and materials.  Some financial aid is available. New potential members must bring their instrument to the first meeting and be prepared to audition with a few selections.  Returning members need not bring their instrument this first week.

Performances of the Joshua Tree Philharmonic always sell out.  Tickets are available online at www.hidesertculturalcenter.org.  To request more information about the Joshua Tree Philharmonic, send an email to info@hidesertculturalcenter.org.
