Playhouse and Academy Award Nominated Director/Producer to hold actor auditions, workshop new feature thriller

ABOUT THE PROJECT

YUCCA VALLEY, CA — The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s top-awarded Playhouse division will hold auditions December 4-5, 2019 for the new masterpiece feature film and visceral thriller, STRANDED. Conceived by Academy Award Nominated director, co-writer, and producer, Matthew Patrick, and with a production team whose combined accolades include Emmy Awards and many Academy Award nominations, the Playhouse will produce a special workshopped performance of STRANDED December 7, 2019 at 1pm at the Cultural Center’s new Yucca Valley Visual & Performing Arts Center. Actors who are selected to be a part of this special workshopped performance will be considered to star in the actual feature film to be shot in 2020. Tickets to the workshopped performance are $7 and available at JTArts.org.

AUDITION INFORMATION

What’s expected: Professional commitment, talent, experience and enthusiasm.  (SAG preferred.)

CAST

CITY PEOPLE

LEXI WILSON – (28)  Smart, reserved, pretty.  Empathetic, thoughtful, observant.  Middle class.  Family Therapist.  Faints when she sees blood.  Becomes extremely anxious in stressful situations.  A survivor.  A hero.

GINA SILVERSTEIN – (Late 20s.)  Stunning, sassy, funny, old money rich.  Jason’s girlfriend.   Has a warm heart and grows to be become a heroic.  Speaks the truth.

JASON MASTERSON – (28) Handsome, educated, charming, confident, likable.  Has all the advantages.  A brilliant businessman worth over 80 million dollars.  Has anger issues.  Loves Gina.

CHAD WILSON – (28). Handsome, outdoorsy, playful.  Jason’s less successful business partner.  At first he is a great guy, but later see he is a two-faced bastard.

DESERT PEOPLE

CHARLENE – (40-70). Wholesome, solid, pleasant owner of the local garage.   Likable.  Needs to pay her sick daughter’s hospital bills so she runs “the game,” a deadly contest for gamblers on the dark web.  Is she a good person forced to do bad things?  Or is she bad? 

AXEL – (28)  Charismatic, lean, tough, good looking, and charming in a disturbing way.  Very dangerous.  Used to be in control of those around him.  

CRANK – (28)  A good natured, but violent sociopath.  Axel’s right hand man.  Enjoys his job too much as hunter and enforcer.

LARRY – (40 to 70)  A creepy desert rat who’s confined to a wheel chair.  A technical whiz, who controls the cameras around the house and compound, and directs “the game;” a reality show from hell. 

SHITHEAD – (25 – 45)  Big, scary, awkward, slow, mute.  Enforcer.  Like the Hunchback of Notre Dame, or Frankenstein, both victim and victimizer, treated with contempt by the others.  Has a warm heart, but is treated with contempt.

Should your schedule change and you find yourself needing to attend a performance on a different date — if you give the Box Office at least 48 hours notice prior to your ticketed performance, management will attempt to exchange your ticket for a different performance of the same show!
