JOSHUA TREE, CA — The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s prestigious Hi-Desert Playhouse theater division will open its fourth world premiere in its state-of-the-art Blak Box Theater this Friday with Steve Stajich’s new play, THE GOLDFISH LETTERS.  The miraculous new comedy/drama features an all-star cast and will play for three performances March 10-12.

THE GOLDFISH LETTERS wrestles with questions of faith and belief, beginning when a child’s letter asking God to watch over her recently departed goldfish receives a reply… seeming to have come from the intended recipient! When a mysterious uninvited stranger shows up at the parents’ back door, there are even more questions to be answered in this funny and dramatic story that may leave you looking up at the night sky with questions of your own.

Working with a superb cast of professional and community players, Stajich is an esteemed director, comedian and writer who has written for MTV, Comedy Central, and Dennis Miller; cable shows “Politcally Incorrect” and “Evening at the Improv;” and network sitcoms including NBC’s “Daddio” and The CW’s “Reba,” among many others. THE GOLDFISH LETTERS will star John Ferrare playing the role of TED, the husband and father who is less than delighted that someone is writing his daughter letters from heaven; Cooper Gillespie playing the role of ALICE, the wife and mother who urged her husband to relocate to a small town to give their adopted daughter a better quality of life; Derrik Lewis playing the mysterious stranger who disrupts the household; and Jeanette Knight who plays the lawyer who may need a small miracle to pull things back together again for everyone involved.

THE GOLDFISH LETTERS suggested rating is PG and show tickets range from $15-$24.  A cash bar and complimentary light refreshments are available.  Performances are Friday and Saturday evenings at 7pm and Sunday at 2:30pm.  To purchase tickets or for more information patrons may visit, call the Box Office at 760.366.3777, or visit the Hi-Desert Cultural Center Box Office in person Monday through Friday from 1-5pm.  The Hi-Desert Cultural Center is located at 61231 Hwy 62 in Joshua Tree, CA.
