Joshua Tree Philharmonic Launches Fall/Winter Session of its 8th Season
New Session Will Culminate In Concert Performances of “The Nutcracker”
JOSHUA TREE, CA – As the summer comes to a close, the Hi-Desert Cultural Center is proud to announce the return of its highly acclaimed Joshua Tree Philharmonic (JPHIL) intergenerational community orchestra for the Fall/Winter 2011 session. Comprised of over 50 members from the Morongo Basin, Coachella Valley and Inland Empire regions, this innovative symphony orchestra continues to draw participants from far and wide. Under the direction of Maestro Jarrod Radnich, the JPHIL welcomes new musicians to join the orchestra’s new season that will culminate in a concert production of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” December 9th through 11th, 2011.
The JPHIL is able to accept members with a wide range of musical skills as Radnich, also a noted composer, reworks the orchestral music and creates an arrangement for each performer that is geared specifically to their skill set.
People wishing to join the JPHIL, including those returning from last season, should come to the Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theater on Monday, August 29th at 6:00 pm. The Center’s address is 61231 Twentynine Palm Highway (Hwy 62) in Joshua Tree. New individuals wishing to join are asked to bring their instrument with a prepared piece of music that demonstrates the level of their playing “comfort.” Returning members need not bring their instruments, but new music will be handed out.
The winter session fee is $80 per member and covers all performance and learning materials and uniforms. Financial assistance is available. Those members of the community who wish to sponsor a musician may do so on the center’s website www.hidesertculturalcenter.com, may send an email to info@hidesertculturalcenter.com, or may contact the Desert Music Foundation Chairperson, Kathleen Radnich, 760.366.3777. The JPHIL is a program of the Desert Music Foundation, a subsidiary of the Hi-Desert Cultural Center (a federally-registered 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation also duly registered as a charity with the California Department of Justice’s Registry of Charitable Trusts).
