Adele, Moody Blues, Duke Ellington, & Mozart to highlight Joshua Tree Philharmonic’s Concert Series this weekend
JOSHUA TREE, CA – The innovative Joshua Tree Philharmonic (JPHIL) will begin celebrating its 10th anniversary year with a new and exhilarating concert series at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theater this weekend, May 16th through 18th. Sure to delight and enthrall the entire family in a musical celebration unlike any other, this special concert series will feature the Desert’s premiere community orchestra in an eclectic blend of popular music from Carmina Burana (Carl Orff), The Moody Blues, Mozart, Adele, Duke Ellington, Gershwin, Harry Warren (Chattanooga Choo-Choo) and more.
Led by Maestro Jarrod Radnich, Concert Master Bonnie Schwartz, and with new arrangements and orchestral score support by Steve Caron, Laurinda Stewart, and Darrell Shade, the JPHIL is an inspiring intergenerational community orchestra comprised of members from the Morongo Basin, Coachella Valley, and Inland Empire regions – and often beyond. As many members of the JPHIL serve in the armed forces they can find themselves on the other side of the country, such as bass flutist Jenn Metlen who flew-in from Maryland on Sunday to perform in the concerts.
As concerts traditionally sell-out, concertgoers are encouraged to purchase their tickets in advance. Philharmonic evening performances begin at 7:00 pm on Friday and Saturday, May 16th and 17th, with two matinee performances at 2:00 pm Saturday and Sunday, May 17th and 18th. All concerts will be held at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Blak Box Theater located in the Palmer Performance Hall at 61231 29 Palms Highway in Joshua Tree. Tickets are $15 for general seating and $20 for elite seating. While this is a family event, children must be at least 5 years of age to attend. To purchase tickets call 760.366.3777 or go online to www.hidesertculturalcenter.com. Tickets are available at the door if space permits.
The Joshua Tree Philharmonic is a program of the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Desert Music Foundation. The Hi-Desert Cultural Center is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
