Sep 9, 2014 | 4:30-7pm | PUBLIC RECEPTION!

Hi-Desert Medical Center & Hi-Desert Cultural Center have joined together to create new and exciting public displays of fine art – located throughout the hospital campus!  Each gallery will change three times a year and feature first-class artists from our beautiful Joshua Tree National Park desert communities!

JOSHUA TREE, CA – The Hi-Desert Medical Center is partnering with the Hi-Desert Cultural Center to showcase the work of local artists in its newly-installed rotating art galleries located throughout the hospital. Curated by the Hi-Desert Cultural Center, the galleries feature fine art by local artists. The galleries are located in the main lobby, emergency department lobby, medical-surgical wing, and the Hi-Desert Orthopedics clinic on the main hospital campus located at 6601 White Feather Road in Joshua Tree. The displayed artwork is for sale, with a portion of the each sale benefitting the Hi-Desert Memorial Health Care District Foundation and the Hi-Desert Cultural Center.

A public reception will be held Tuesday, Sept. 9, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. in the main hospital lobby. The public is invited to attend, tour the galleries, and meet the featured artists along with representatives from the Medical Center and the Cultural Center. Refreshments and hors d’ oeuvres will be served.

The new rotating art galleries complement the hospital’s permanent art collection that was installed in 2006 in tandem with the hospital’s 30th Anniversary.

They represent fresh works by local artists and the prolific artist community in the Morongo Basin. Our hospital is visited by hundreds of people each year, and these galleries showcase the culture here as well as the Medical Center’s belief that art is healing for our patients.Joe Ruddon, HDMC Marketing Director

Artists featured in the inaugural galleries include Mike Fagan, S.E. James, Susan Madsen and D.H. Morris. Artwork will be changed three times a year, and a public call for art will be announced soon.

Starting the day of this opening reception, those interested in online viewing or purchasing of the art featured in the galleries may visit the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s website, www.hidesertculturalcenter.com.

R.S.V.P. for the Sept. 9th reception is not required, and for more information about the reception or galleries, call the Medical Center’s Marketing Department at (760) 366-6324.
