Beginner Strings Class – Fall 2014 – Strings Conservatory

The popular Strings Conservatory beginner class returns for ages 8 – adult. The hour-long class starts @ 6 pm October 2 and continues each Thursday (except Thanksgiving week’s class is held on Tuesday, Nov. 25) and culminates in a public recital December 4. This special 10-week course is taught by Phyllis Moss, a 25-year L.A. public schools music educator, and includes her popular string method book “Right from the Start.” Instruction is correlated to the Visual and Performing Arts Content Standards for California Public Schools. Both instrument technique and basic music theory are taught. Books/materials are included in class price. Students must have a violin, viola, or cello by the start of the first class. Some HDCC violins are available for rent and must be reserved prior to class. JPHIL Prep Strings Class – Fall 2014 – Strings Conservatory

JPHIL Prep Strings Class – Fall 2014 – Strings Conservatory – This class is designed for continuing or intermediate strings students, ages 9 through adult. The hour-long class starts @ 7 pm October 2 and continues each Thursday (except Thanksgiving week’s class is held on Tuesday, Nov. 25) and culminates in a public recital December 4. From 8-8:30 pm (on class nights as scheduled by the instructor) students are invited to participate in a special half-hour ensemble workshop. The course is taught by Phyllis Moss, a 25-year L.A. public schools music educator. Books/materials are included. Students must have a violin, viola, or cello by the start of the first class. Some HDCC violins are available for rent and must be reserved prior to class. 3Make sure you have an instrument. If you don’t already have an instrument:

OPTION 1 – Rent an instrument from the Cultural Center. Rentals are on a first come, first served basis. The rental cost is $30, plus an additional $20 refundable deposit in advance. IMPORTANT: If you are getting a rental violin from us, you will also need to fill-out and send us the applicable Instrument Lease Agreement:

GREAT NEWS FOR SEASON PACKAGE TICKET HOLDERS! Should your schedule change and you find yourself needing to attend a performance on a different date — if you give the Box Office at least 48 hours notice prior to your ticketed performance, management will attempt to exchange your ticket for a different performance of the same show!
