Philharmonic to hold auditions AUG 28—All instruments welcome!
JOSHUA TREE, CA — The Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s Joshua Tree Philharmonic (JPHIL) will be holding auditions August 28, 2023 for instrumentalists interested in joining and becoming members of this extraordinary orchestra. Under the direction of renowned Maestro Jarrod Radnich, the philharmonic’s Winter 2023 session will feature beloved classical, jazz, and big band holiday symphonic music in its December 14-17, 2023 concert series, entitled: A Christmas Down Memory Lane.
Selections to be performed include Cyril Mockridge’s MIRACLE ON 34th STREET, the Glenn Miller Orchestra’s THE NUTCRACKER SUITE, Dimitri Tiomkin’s IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE, Benjamin Britten A CEREMONY OF CAROLS—”This Little Babe,” David Seville’s & “The Chipmunks” CHRISTMAS DON’T BE LATE, Gerald Finzi’s IN TERRA PAX, Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Op. 74 CHRISTMAS OVERTURE. . . & MORE!
Auditions are by appointment only and will be held August 28, 2023 at the Cultural Center’s state-of-the-art Blak Box Theater in downtown Joshua Tree, located at 61231 CA-62. Alternate appointment dates may be scheduled upon availability. Open to all instruments and musicians who demonstrate competency on their instrument, all orchestral parts are expertly created and arranged for each musician in the orchestra. Individuals interested in auditioning for the philharmonic are required to sign up for a 15 minute time slot and be prepared to play music of their choosing that represents their proficiency. The JPHIL is a multi-session, year-round, inter-generational community orchestra comprised of over 50 musicians from Greater Joshua Tree, Coachella Valley, Inland Empire, High-Desert/Apple Valley regions, and beyond. Weekly rehearsals take place Monday evenings beginning February 6, 2023, and there are no fees to participate in the orchestra. All concert proceeds go toward supporting the Cultural Center’s music and arts programs.
