Playhouse produces new play April 5-14 by TV’s Emmy Award-Winning writer of NBC’s This Is Us
In what the Los Angeles Times calls “a terrific new play,” playwright Bekah Brunstetter’s delightful and thought-provoking new dramedy, GOING TO A PLACE WHERE YOU ALREADY ARE, takes a whimsical look at life, asking the question: “Is there a Heaven?” Playhouse Artist Director Howard Shangraw directs this warm and funny new play by the writer of NBC’s Emmy Award-winning smash hit, THIS IS US. The play stars Desert Theater League award-winning actors Jeanette Knight, Cooper Gillespie, and Howard Shangraw and also stars Playhouse favorites and Desert Star Award Nominees Doran Ray and William Hart. It is a love story that explores the meaning of life with humor and hilariously awkward characters that serve up a magical world full of delight and surprise. As we examine our levels of belief, faith, humanity, and our heavenly expectations in a world that may seem cynical, this play is uplifting, life-affirming, and is sure to warm the heart.
GOING TO A PLACE WHERE YOU ALREADY ARE plays April 5, 6, 12, and 13 at 7:30 pm, with a 2:30 pm matinee on Sunday, April 14. The play has a suggested rating of PG 13 due to mild adult language and content. Doors open one half-hour prior to the performance. Tickets range from $15 for General Admission up to $26 for Elite Seating. A cash bar is available prior to each performance and during intermission.
