Youth Percussion Conservatory
Semester Duration: Week of Septmeber 13th – Week of May 15th
Orientation: September 10, 2015 at 6:00 pm
First Class: FRIDAY September 18, 2015
Class Day/Time: Fridays 3-4:30 pm for intermediate/advanced students and 4:30-5:30 pm for begining students. Students in grades 4-12. (Music4Kids! is available for students grades 1-3. Please see page at above link for details.)

COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Youth Percussion Conservatory program offers a high quality education in drum and percussion performance to students in a professional school setting. Instruments available for study include, but may not be limited to: orchestral and auxiliary percussion, drum set, timpani and other tuned percussion, and hand/ethnic percussion. Experienced Youth Percussion Conservatory instructor David McKean will lead a small group of beginner/intermediate young musicians — focusing on basic music elements, note & rhythm reading, and technical execution of their respective percussion instruments. Students will learn and be guided in rehearsal of appropriate musical materials – technique, songs, sketches, Youth Philharmonic performances, chamber ensembles, etc.
