ENROLL NOW! SUMMER 2018 ADULT & YOUTH ATA-Vertical-Email-BannerCLASSES/WORKSHOPS in MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS, VOICE, VISUAL ARTS, & DANCE begin the week of July 16th!

The Hi-Desert Cultural Center is thrilled to open registration for its SUMMER 2018 Arts Classes – including many new DANCE, VISUAL ARTS, MUSICAL INSTRUMENT, and VOICE classes for ADULTS and YOUTH!  (Summer Youth Theater enrollment is on a different form.) In order to keep class sizes small, applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, and class sizes will be limited. Minimum class sizes also may be required and classes not meeting those minimums may be canceled on the first day of class with a full refund to those enrolled.

Most courses have specific age requirements (or advance permission by the instructor) so please read each description thoroughly when enrolling for courses.

All courses run 4 weeks (except the four weekly dance workshops that may be taken individually). Classes start the week of July 16th.

Some classes are held at our Joshua Tree location (61231 Hwy 62) and others are held at our NEW Yucca Valley Visual & Performing Arts Center location (58325 Hwy 62) so please take note of the location.

You may also call us at 760.366.3777 x3 if you have questions or may stop by the office at the Blak Box Theater (Joshua Tree) any time between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm weekdays through July 6th and thereafter from 10 am – 5 pm.

Registration Confirmation: Applications are accepted now and are recorded for priority.  If you are requesting financial aid, then a correct tuition payment can only be made after you receive a financial aid award.  We will respond to all financial aid requests within 1 business day!
Schedule:  Classes start the week of July 16th.  All courses run 4 weeks – meeting once per week.  The four weekly dance workshops may be taken individually or purchased as a package at a savings.
Costs:  All courses except individual Dance Workshops may be paid in full or in two installments.  [Note: If financial aid or scholarship is awarded, the cost for each course will be less.] All hour-long classes are $20 total for the full summer session, hour-and-a-half classes are $30 total for the full summer session, and the Comic Book Course that runs 2 hours for each of 4 weeks is $40 total.  The two-hour dance workshops are $70 total for all four workshops or are priced at $20 each. Visual Arts class costs include all supplies.  Musical instruments are not included in the tuition costs for music courses (except that Piano/Keyboard students will be provided instruments for use in the classroom).  Violins, violas, cellos, saxophones, flutes, clarinets, French horns, trumpets, and trombones are available for highly-subsidized rental rates and may also be included as part of a financial aid package.

Tuition may be paid using credit card, debit card, PayPal, or automated bank withdrawals through the on-line payment portal or via cash or check at the Box Office, which usually is open from 1 pm – 5 pm weekdays and is open from 10 am – 5 pm during the summer program times.

Financial Assistance: Even though class costs are set substantially below the market value in order to be widely available, we do not want any child to be excluded due to a socioeconomic situation and do not desire any adult person to be excluded due to unavoidable financial situations.  We know that sometimes more assistance in a time of need means the difference between someone being able to participate and not, and therefore needs-based financial aid is available for class tuition (and instrument rental if applicable) for participants who qualify (subject to availability).  Residents of the City of 29 Palms also receive additional scholarship funds with the generous support grant from the City of Twentynine Palms Public Arts Advisory Committee.
