Cultural Center & Elite Cosmetology award makeup artist winners for upcoming Playhouse production of DRACULA
JOSHUA TREE, CA – In furtherance of the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s mission to expand arts education and related career/tech training in the region, the Cultural Center partnered with Elite Cosmetology School and held a makeup artist competition for Elite’s students on October 11. The educational competition was spearheaded by the Cultural Center’s award-winning Director of Costume Design, Amy Angel. All of the competition winners receive the opportunity to work with the Center’s prestigious Hi-Desert Playhouse theater division, which recently won a crowning eleven Desert Theatre League awards for theatrical excellence—tying for the spot as the top theatrical production company member in the Southern California desert region.
Student makeup artist winners Shayna Achin, Ivania Mercado, Katelyn Martinez, Brittany Shockey, and Tori Spencer receive the distinct opportunity to work with celebrated industry professionals applying and refining their skills while helping bring to “life” the Playhouse’s spectacular upcoming stage production of Bram Stoker’s DRACULA, which opens October 21 at the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s state-of-the-art Blak Box Theater and runs through Halloween night.
