Youth Summer Dance classes with Nickerson-Rossi Dance | June 22-30
Hi-Desert Cultural Center has partnered with Nickerson-Rossi Dance (Palm Springs International Dance Festival) to bring an unprecedented new dance program to Greater Joshua Tree! Our goal is to provide area youth with sustainable, high-caliber dance education and access to more professional, educational, and therapeutic dance program possibilities created through Nickerson-Rossi Dance.
A brand new, further-expanded comprehensive dance program directed by Nickerson-Rossi Dance in partnership with Hi-Desert Cultural Center is set to potentially open in September 2022 and run through May 2023. Classes for toddlers, youth, pre-teens, and teens opening soon!
Dance is one of the best ways to get kids off the phone and back into action! Being in class with their peers is an engaging way to learn coordination, social skills, teamwork, and learn how to express themselves in a healthy and positive environment! The exciting thing about dance is that it hits two birds with one stone—it’s a physical sport matched with artistry, emotional liberation, and social development! Any young person will benefit from the offerings found in dance.

Kids Summer Dance Classes (Age 5-11)
Choose to sign your dancer up for as many classes as you like—they can take just one or can take all three days’ classes for a mini-camp experience! In this 3-day camp, our little campers will be introduced to the fun dance genres of ballet, jazz, and hip-hop and be able to try out each style of their choice!
REQUIREMENTS:
Age 5-11
No previous dance training necessary.
COST:
$16 per class spot
LOCATION:
All classes will take place in the Hi-Desert Cultural Center’s expansive new dance studio located in its new state-of-the-art Yucca Valley Visual & Performing Arts Center at 58325 CA-62, Yucca Valley, CA 92284.
Youth Summer Dance Workshop (Age 12-19)
Whether you’re a beginner or have had some training, students in this 4-day workshop will receive 4 days of customized training based on each student’s individual level of experience. The 4 days of individualized training will take place from 10 am to 4 pm each day (24 hours of instruction), concluding with a Student Showcase for parents, friends, and the public. The Student Showcase will feature the enrolled students of the Youth Summer Dance Workshop, the Professional Dance Company of Nickerson-Rossi Dance, and the students from their school at Palm Springs Dance Academy.
Classes consist of ballet, modern, and contemporary, under the instruction of the internationally renowned professional dance company, Nickerson-Rossi Dance. Join four of their company dancers and the Artistic Director of Nickerson-Rossi Dance, Michael Nickerson-Rossi, as they teach these classes and lead the enrolled dancers into a rehearsal setting to learn a new choreographic work that they will perform for friends and family in an informal performance.
